Brake Shoe Deriveter
Before new lining can be applied to the brake shoe, the old lining must be removed.
If riveted to the shoe, it may be removed using a variety of means; Shearing with an air chisel, shearing with a blade on a rotating chuck or single punching each rivet.
Conklin Equipment makes both the rotary machines and the single punch as shown on the right.
This machine is ruggedly built around a self contained hydraulic power unit driven by a
1 HP 115 v motor. The punch is capable of over 7000 lbs of force and is effective on a wide range of shoes.
A unique feature of this machine is the ability to control the position of the punch through a 3 position foot pedal. The punch may be stopped in any position, giving the operator complete control of the punch.
Conklin Equipment can also supply deriveting equipment using a rotary chuck, forcing the shoe against a fixed blade. These machines require tooling for the various diameter shoes, but are considerably faster for use in a production shop.
