About Conklin Equipment

In the early 1960’s, the original owners of Conklin Equipment were rebuilders of brake shoes selling into the Southern California area. Because there was a lack of quality equipment available for the production brake shoe rebuilder, they started building machines for their own use.

In 1966 the brake rebuilding portion of the business was sold and Conklin Equipment was formed to exclusively build equipment, drawing on the experience they had as a rebuilder. Over the years the focus of the business changed from building equipment for the larger shoes then the smaller compact shoes and later to disc pads. Eventually Conklin Equipment supplied equipment to almost every rebuilder of brake shoes and some OEM’s in the United States and Canada. In 1994 Conklin Equipment bought Grigg Specialty Tool, an old line supplier of rebuilding equipment including ovens.

Today Conklin Equipment has expanded its ability to build custom machines to a variety of industries, many outside the automotive industry. A partial list of our customers is shown below:
